Top 5 Gluten Free Food Indulgences at Disneyland
September 09, 2018
Eating Gluten Free while traveling can really be a bummer. Often times, I sit at dinner with my family who have all ordered some amazing dessert and simply watch them eat it wondering, is there ever a place where I will be able to do that?
Well, my gluten free friends, that place is Disneyland! (or Disneyworld, but that is another post all together.) Disneyland is a place where even we gluten free folks can enjoy some indulgent treats.
Raspberry Macaron- Jolly Holiday Bakery, Disneyland
This honestly is my favorite dessert treat in Disney. It is a raspberry flavored macaron with a marzapan frosting stuffed with fresh raspberries. You guys, this thing is a flavor bomb! So delicous and fresh. It is located at the Jolly Holiday Bakery at the end of Main Street USA in Disneyland. The cost for one of these beauties is $5.99!
Ok. Ok. This isn't technically a dessert, but it practically tastes like it. This sandwich is super fluffy, buttery and sweet. It comes with three different dipping sauces; chocolate sauce, a raspberry jam and a vanilla sauce. The vanilla sauce is honestly my favorite (yes, even over the chocolate!). A quick warning, you must give the restaurant 24-48 hours notice if you plan on ordering this sandwich. I suggest you give them notice in person, so plan on making your reservation for the second or third day you are in the parks. You simply have to go to the hostess stand, give them your name and reservation time and tell them you intend on ordering the gluten free monte cristo. They will make note on your reservation and it will be served to you when your tables meal is given. The Monte Cristo is $29.00 and is one of the most affordable entrees on the menu. Affordable and delicious, its a game changer!
Incredicookie- Jack Jack Cookie Num Nums- California Adventure Park
This cookie is fairly new to the parks and debuted when Pixar Pier opened summer of 2018. From looking at it, it doesn't look like anything amazing, but it is super yummy! I had two one day! It is a shortbread cookie with a blackberry filling in the middle. It is surprisingly soft for a shortbread cookie. I expected it to be hard and crumbly as most gluten free cookies are. I was so surprised! An Incredicookie will run you $6.00. Well worth it!
Flan- Rancho del Zocalo, Disneyland
Nothing like finishing off a nice mexican food meal with flan. The only problem is that many mexican restaurants add gluten to their flan. Not this place. I get the flan everytime I go to this place, even if I am full. Because, you know....flan. This restaurant is in Frontierland in Disneyland. The flan is $5.39.
If you haven't tried this stuff, you are probably living under a rock. It is delish and honestly a Disneyland staple. Dole whip has been in the parks for years! It is a pineapple soft serve ice cream. You can find it at a stand just outside The Tiki Room at the entrance of Adventureland. It is also one of the more affordable treats in Disney. A cup of Dole whip runs $5.69. You are welcome, you won't regret it.
Here are a couple runner ups!
Sprinkles Cupcakes has gluten free red velvet cupcake that is pretty darn good!
Bing Bongs Sweet Stuff has Memory Refreshers which are a flavored slushy that come in different combinations. They are pretty interesting.
Hope this helps make your gluten free dreams come true! I know Disney really does it for me when it comes to treats. I never feel like I can't indulge! What are your favorite treats in Disney? Did I miss something amazing?
