Why Great Wolf Lodge is Awesome

March 26, 2019

Before I had ever been to a Great Wolf Lodge, I wondered what could be enticing about it.  Would it be worth the price?  Would my children enjoy it?  Would there be enough to keep them entertained?

The answer to all three is YES!  Keep reading below to find out why we loved Great Wolf Lodge.

Once you check into Great Wolf, you are given access to so much fun.  The biggest fun being the indoor water park.  Let me tell you, living in Colorado, having this thing indoors is a game changer.  We could enjoy the water park no matter the weather outside.

In the water park, there were many options for the kids to enjoy.  The wave pool was a hit with both of my boys.  It didn't get terribly deep, but deep enough that my youngest opted to wear a life vest for part of the time so he felt comfortable going into the deep end with the waves.

There is also a splash structure that has slides for littler children, a challenge course where you cross monkey bars over the water, and a climbing wall.  I was surprised that my kids wanted to play in this area, but they did!  Especially the challenge course and the climbing wall.

Waterslides!  There is a rafting slide that we enjoyed very much as a family.  You can pile up to four people in the tube and head out together through the tunnel.  This one is pretty fast and super fun.

There is a racing slide as well which my children loved.

The thrilling option was a tube in which the floor drops out from under you and you head straight down through a tunnel.  This one was a big hit with my oldest!  He rode this one over and over again.

When you need a break from the water there are a plethora of other options for fun.  We enjoyed the mini golf course.

The ropes course is pretty tame and my oldest opted out of it, but my youngest son thought it was great!  They also had three or four climbing wall options which were totally appropriate for small children.

They have a show in the morning and the evening, I think they call it Story Time.  My youngest thought it was pretty cool.  It isn't unheard of to walk into the lobby and find a dance party going on at any given time with staff leading dances with the kids.

In the area where the mini golf and ropes course are, they often have an arts and crafts activity going on for the kids which is completely free.

MagiQuest was also a great addition to our stay.  Keep in mind this comes at an additional cost, but the boys loved it!  We felt completely comfortable letting them roam all over the hotel finding clues and winning challenges on the screens they found.  Even I admit it was pretty cool.

For little girls, there is a spa.  They offer manicures and pedicures.  I took my niece there for a special treat.  She felt super special.  Keep in mind the polish may wear off in the chlorine so this may be more of an option for your last day when you are done with the pool.

Food and drink were plenty.  As most of you know, I am pretty picky and cannot eat gluten. I was worried this being a kid friendly place that the food would be awful.  I was pleasantly surprised with the sit down restaurant called Barnwood.  They have craft cocktails and tons a yummy (and healthy!!) options.  There are some quick service options as well that sell burgers and nachos and options that are quick.  There is also a Ben and Jerry's onsite.

Would we go back again?  Yep.  Not sure if our oldest has many more years of finding it enjoyable, but for now it is a great place to relax, let the kids have fun and spend some quality time together.

Have you ever been to a Great Wolf Lodge?
I'd love to hear about it.
XOXO, LEAH
