Hidden Gems of Main Street USA Disneyland

November 14, 2018

Main  Street USA greets you the minute you enter into Disneyland.  It is the perfect entrance to the magic and it is said that Walt Disney styled it after his home town where he grew up around the turn of the century, bringing you back to a simpler and more visually appealing time.

The Emporium

You guys, I love to shop. The Emporium is a gigantic store right on the corner of Main Street USA.  This store has everything!  Shirts, toys, ears, photo albums, purses, jewelry, socks, shoes, ornaments, pins, this list could go on and on.  This is the one stop shop for all things souvenir!  This is also where you can find things like Ibuprophen or Pepto if you have an ailment while in the park.  It is a staple on Main Street USA and definately helps shape the landscape of the atmosphere.  The windows of the Emporium are decorated so immaculately.  Make sure you check them out!

Main Street Cinema

We love the Cinema for breaks when it is super hot outside.  It is also a great place to soak up a little bit of nostalgia.  They are always playing older cartoons that you can check out at any point in the day.  Just walk in and take a seat to have a look.  There are no show times, just a running cartoon that you can take a peak at.

Characters

Main Street USA is a great place to catch characters.  You can often see members of the Fab Five hanging out at the beginning of Main Street.  This is a great place to take pictures with them.

Jolly Holiday Bakery

The bakery is one of my favorite places to eat in the park!  They have those cute Raspberry Macarons that I have raved about.  This is a great place for lunch as they serve yummy salads and sandwiches.  They also carry the famous Matterhorn Macaroon.  Please check this place out if you need a quick bite.

Parades

Main Street USA is, in my opinion, the best place to watch the parades.  Of course, you have to scope out your spot at minimum 30 minutes prior, but main street gives you a lovely backdrop to the parades.

Coffee

The only true coffee shop in Disneyland is on Main Street USA.  It is called Market House and it is really just a Disneyfied Starbucks.  They have cute Mickey cookies and Disney themed cups.  It is our go to spot first thing in the morning!  Pick up the phone in the waiting area and listen in on a great phone call with Mickey.

Castle View

The view down Main Street USA toward the castle cannot be beat!  It is an iconic spot to see the castle.  In fact, they have a cast member stationed there to take pictures for your memory maker photo pass.  Such a cute picture spot!

Town Hall

This is where you can get specialty buttons FOR FREE!  If it is a birthday, anniversary or your first visit to Disneyland.  Swing in here and get a free button to wear.  People will notice and congratulate you all day long.  This is also where you go if you have a family member with special needs in order to get special ride passes.  Check out the window right about Town Hall.  There is a lamp on that cast members would turn on when Walt Disney was in the park.  When he passed away, they left it on permenantly to signify that his spirit would always be a part of the park.

Main Street USA has an ambiance all its own.  It is one of my favorite places to be in Disneyland.  The sights, the smells and the wonderful background music playing all blend together to create a magical place to enter and leave the park.  Coming in through Main Street USA is something I try to do even if we can ride the monorail from the Disneyland Hotel.  The experience of walking down Main Street toward the castle cannot be beat!
Did I miss any of your favorite spots on Main Street USA?
